That is an act of war, the Biden admin should respond. This didn’t happen under Trump, he’d be occupying halfway through Mexico by now.

A group of 136 countries set a minimum global tax rate of 15% for big corporations
by Disillusioned JW ina group of 136 countries set a minimum global tax rate of 15% for big corporations.
that is a major goal accomplished by the biden administration.
seehttps://www.wsj.com/articles/countries-agree-to-global-deal-to-curb-tax-avoidance-11633709979 .. if corresponding legislation gets passed into law in the usa it will be much harder for corporations doing business in the usa to move their operations out of the usa to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.

@diogenesister: taxes reduce profits by the amount taxed, thus they reduce the share that goes to your pension funds and shareholders and instead it goes into the black hole of government.
You can see that these taxes aren’t used to reduce debt or to increase revenue for businesses across the board, government spending is wasteful and a drain on the economy. Eventually they will find that it still isn’t enough and raise taxes even more.
Name a government program that is self funded or profitable. There is none. Social security has a negative interest rate when accounting for inflation (-3%) compared to private pension funds (+15%) and socialized healthcare such as ObamaCare, or NHS in the UK created a system where there are now more administrators than doctors. For every doctor there are 2 administrators and 1 nurse that simply do paperwork,

@Simon: the big corporations do pay massive amounts of taxes for income, employment, social security and property taxes.
The notion that Amazon isn’t paying any taxes is a completely false narrative. They obviously will use whatever tax rules are in place to move money around, and no tax rule can change that, because those rules must exist for there to be a functioning economy.
And the more taxes are levied the less taxes are going to get paid. In Europe even small businesses <$20M revenue invest in accountants to avoid the heaps of taxes, because it can save them a few million, which isn’t a practice you see in the US until you get to about $200+M in revenue because it just isn’t worth it.
France levied a wealth tax and revenue plummeted so badly they went into a depression, the Obama era tax increases, once they came fully into effect (off course, by then Obama was almost out of office), total revenues stayed roughly the same, revenue from corporations dropped while the revenue from payroll and individuals increased enormously. So raise taxes just means people move money out of your country. Nowadays it’s not even a country, cryptocurrency allows you to extract money and it will be forever untraceable.

It won’t go into effect until 10 years from now, so the effects on those poor countries won’t be felt until long after Biden is gone.
Ireland made it so it said 15% instead of at least 15%, so it can’t be adjusted later, and the global average is already at 20%. So basically it will do nothing for the rich countries like the US where corporate tax rates are already the highest in the world while bankrupting poorer countries as they implement these measures.
Not only that, it has no chance of passing in the US and most of the unstable countries that signed onto this will reject it as soon as they notice the deleterious effects of raising taxes on the production.

Censuring medicine and information; our new culture.
by was a new boy in'last night's flccc weekly update featured stories of families who fought in court to compel hospitals to give their loved ones ivermectin.
that it has come to this is tragic.
63 studies have now shown ivermectin’s efficacy in all stages of c19 disease.'.

@joey jojo: In other post I've already posted to NIH websites with Ivermectin studies. At this point it's just willful ignorance if you think these studies don't exist.

Question about Congregation accounts in ECUADOR 🇪🇨
by suavojr inwondering if anyone here knows why local congregations in ecuador do not have accounts under the congregation’s name.
i just found out they use the personal information of one of the elder’s 😳 wtf .
what’s the legal reason for this?

@New day: Equador is pretty much a free and open and relatively stable country since the early 80s. It’s also a very religiously diverse country, so it’s unlikely they would tax religion, you’d hear them complaining loudly like they do about France and Russia.
The WTBTS doesn’t know it is being stolen from if it disappears between the box in the hall and the bank. I happen to know from experience it’s rather easy to divert funds from one set of books to the other and even completely have it disappear from the books into someone’s pocket. I know at least one person that was disfellowshipped for doing it.

@diogenesister: that isn’t true. Child rape and pedophilia happen in both white and black communities, there is a stigma in the black community against reporting to the police and there is a lot of normalization in that community however so it is often not reported. Most research even explicitly excludes blacks https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1130987/ but there is plenty of evidence that the problem is a lot deeper, generational and culturally accepted amongst blacks.
The media also play a role in this as they tend to amplify the stories about white people ‘doing something bad’ (it happens a lot less in relation to the share of population, so it’s more newsworthy) a lot more than blacks (based on crime statistics, you should see a lot more black people in the news if reporting was done on every crime)
In regards the elderly, more black people work in lower end healthcare jobs such as elder care and nursing, and again, that behavior is normalized, especially against elderly of non-black races (black supremacy has been a thing since the late 50s and is now deeply engrained). So there is more opportunity, it is acceptable within the black community, hence you hear about it more.

HLC confidentiality
by shadowclone inlots of hospitals have hired jw's as bloodless care manager.
if they find out that a jw agrees to take blood, what is their protocol in such a case?
usa scenario so hippa is a factor.

Volunteers or not, they have to follow HIPAA protocols. The hospital is liable for all actions of their representatives, that includes contractors, volunteers, students, clergy etc whether they are paid or not.
It doesn't matter what happens to the victim as a result, if anyone representing the hospital discloses any medical information to another elder or the organization, they're in violation of HIPAA protocols.
In the EU it probably would be a GDPR violation and the UK has similar provisions. Although public healthcare doesn't necessarily offer bloodless solutions as they are too expensive. I know back in the day there were private hospitals in the EU that would do this, but it was pricey.

Annual Meeting

So their excuse to build a media center by 2026 is that this is for the new world. So they’re setting a new end date now (sometime in the next 5 years).
Not only that, but after the pictures we see in all the books, like the Revelation book, of meteors and burning cities, they believe they will have the Internet up and running in no time, without any telephone poles or roads or big buildings to speak of in any of the pictures.
I mean, it just sounds more and more ridiculous these excuses. Are they going to retcon the Bethel complex they built in all these pictures of god overseeing the paradise, shouldn’t like their complex be shown on earth instead of the implied elder on the porch of some wood bungalow in a tropical environment?

Sounds like someone (else) is fleecing the flock, the local congregation does not have a bank account under its legal name (the corporation that owns the deed and is owned by the WTBTS does, but not the legal entity that is the congregation and is owned by the elders) and they would only use this account for making cash deposits.
It would definitely not be under the name of one of the elders, it would be something like “Kingdom Hall of <name of the area>” and require 2 signatures for withdrawals. The “Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses <name of the area>” should not have any assets and at no point would they allow “Joe Elder” to be the congregation bank account.
All other bank transactions, including savings and credit card donations is handled directly by the local branch office.
I guess good for him, he’s probably creaming off a nice chunk before forwarding. As long as he can hide it from the others, I know it’s pretty simple to use your authority and subvert a younger MS to do this. Your CO must be laying into the donation thing pretty hard every time he comes though.
